PG Times announces "NEET-PG case is Item No. 1 on April 23"
So finally, this case has made it to Number 1 of the Legal Pop Charts.

Following the extensive and tireless campaigning by the brave doctors in India, the message has been heard loud and clear by those in power.  For anyone who missed it, the matter concerns the plight of 90,000 doctors whose careers have been left at a standstill following an order by the Supreme Court. Yesterday, details were published in the United Kingdom - Court Freezes Careers of 90,000 Doctors  . For those who wish to read the details, IBTL covered the various issues in the following articles.

Following the hard work by Indian doctors and their supporters over the last two weeks, including two petitions [Petition 1   and Petition 2 ],  the doctors finally had some good news today.

The website that updates us on the  NEET case   was practically fizzing with the news :-

“NEET CASE TC(C)98/2012 ,NEXT HEARING ON 23RD APRIL FINAL CAUSE LIST PUBLISHED. NEET CASE IS INCLUDED AS ITEM NO 1 IN COURT 1.LAST HEARING OF NEET CASE WAS ON APRIL 9.NEET CASE WAS LISTED IN CAUSE LIST ON 16TH AND 17TH BUT WAS NOT TAKEN FOR HEARING..”

To date, the cause list has never had the NEET case at the top  having been  repeatedly overlooked in favour of other issues. While we wait for the hearing, it is vital that everyone supports  the plight of Indian doctors who perform a great service in difficult circumstances. The Supreme Court  needs to hear the voices of  hard working doctors – not through lawyers, not through the media but in their OWN WORDS. Due to this reason, Justice Verma has been personally informed of the plight of doctors by petition and by a letter delivered to his offices. The judiciary has to be aware of the current crisis that has reached emergency status. Moreover, it is imperative that the judiciary takes immediate action before the matter escalates into a full strike that will compromise patient safety and public confidence.

We have until the 23rd April 2013 to make all our voices heard. These are the petitions that every one should sign so that the Supreme Court understands the strength of feeling and the public interest aspect related to this case.

1. Government of India – Save Neet

So get your relatives, your families, any interested party and sign the petitions.  If any doctors  fear  using their real names, a pseudonym is acceptable. Every day until the 23rd April 2013, everyone should  donate one Tweet, one Facebook share and write one short blog or do anything that spreads the word of the petitions.

We do not have time on our hands.  We have three days to ensure this petition is an electronic record of the strength of feeling regarding the protection of the doctors' rights. The petition is there to remind the Indian government that no one will tolerate injustice – not even doctors.

Moreover, it is a message that doctors will never accept being treated like substandard citizens again. They are strong enough to hold the authorities to account – not by violence but by a peaceful loud voice. Legal representations are currently being made on behalf of doctors. Let us show our support by providing a public record and evidence of the way terrible way doctors have been treated. This evidence will be online permanently so the authorities remember that the next time they mismanage a situation and abuse doctors rights, the protests will be ten times that of today.

A short note, those of you distracted by the media's sensational headlines this weekend, remember that nothing should distract you from your focus in this cause.  People are harmed every day in India and its mostly due to Congress' failures to implement proper policy. You either have a choice to take the bait and become embroiled in Congress' clever distraction techniques or you have a choice of making your voice heard in a case that affects your life and that of your patients.

If Bollywood superstar, Sanjay Dutt's Team can make their voices heard in the Supreme Court, so can 90,000 doctors. Justice is demanded not given freely.

For those who question the above with their cynicism and wish to sit around relying in legal argument, remember this :-

“A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history” Mahatma Gandhi

SIGN THE PETITIONS – BE THE VOICE THAT MAKES THE CHANGE

1. Government of India – Save Neet
2. Justice Verma. A request for intervention
