Sarita Toshniwal murder case: PG student Dipmani Saikia arrested



Dr Dipmani Saikia, a 2nd year PG student of Obs & Gyne dept. at Assam Medical College was arrested on Wednesday by Dibrugarh police. He was picked up by police on Tuesday evening. According to police, Dr Saikia orchestrated the killing of Dr Sarita Toshniwal last Friday. Police is meanwhile grilling Dr Saikia in this regard.
A first-year post-graduate medical student, Sarita Toshniwal, was found dead with her throat slit inside the doctor's chamber of the ICU's gynecological department on May 9. Ward boy Kiru Mech, who was arrested, later confessed to the gruesome murder.

The blanket-covered body of Sarita Toshniwal was discovered on a bed inside the doctors’ duty room in the ICU. A disposable surgical knife was found stuck on the left side of the neck.

AMCH authorities said Sarita, who had been on duty on Thursday night, had retired to the doctors’ room, at the far end of the ICU, around 5 am after making a round of the ward.

Ward boy Kiru Mech was arrested in connection with the murder on May 9. After thorough interrogation of Kiru Mech, police on Wednesday arrested post-graduate medical student Dr Dipmani Saikia. 

Later Dibrugarh SP Rana Bhuyan told reporters that Dr Dipmani Saikia was involved in the murder case.
