Sometimes we do not succeed because we lack faith in ourselves: Shri Modi

Addressing doctors and medical students from all across the nation on the evening of 16th February during the inaugural ceremony of Vivekananda NMOCON 2013, Shri Narendra Modi stressed on the Mantra of serving Dardi Narayan. He stated that when a doctor saves a patient he is not only saving the patient but also saving a life and many dreams. The Chief Minister affirmed that a successful doctor is not judged by how big his house is or how many cars does he or she have but on the number of lives the doctor has saved. “This does not happen with the notes that have Gandhi ji’s picture but by remembering his life” he stated.
The Chief Minister pointed that the people gathered here are from the same ‘Akhara’ as him and that they know each other very well.
On the occasion Shri Modi paid rich tributes to Swami Vivekananda. He stated that Swami Vivekananda had to struggle his entire life bur he was not one to get deterred by adversities. “He (Swami Vivekananda) had to struggle all his life. He did not get anything easily and even if he did he did not accept it” Shri Modi affirmed. The Chief Minister added that those who cannot live in the wake of adversity cannot do anything for others.
Shri Modi stated that as a young Sanyasi, Swami Vivekananda dreamt of a Jagat Guru Bharat, an India at the pinnacle of the world’s leadership. He said that Swami Vivekananda not only dreamt so but also had faith that the youth of India would fulfill this dream. The Chief Minister said that today as we commemorate the 150thbirth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, we should ask ourselves if there is pain in our hearts that the dream of Swami ji is not fulfilled.
While addressing the doctors, Shri Modi asked them to remember the time they were giving their various exams and asked them if they retain the same energy and inspiration now as they did back then. “If not then are you heading towards becoming a money making machine? Your parents stayed awake for nights, your siblings did not see TV. So much was sacrificed for you. The pains you endured back then can be the basis for you to develop a compassion towards serving society,” Shri Modi opined. He also pointed out that an ordinary person sees a doctor as a God who will save his or her life.
In his speech the Chief Minister stressed on the need to have faith in the self. “Sometimes we do not succeed because we lack faith in ourselves. We will never succeed if we do not have faith in ourselves.” He also urged the visiting guests of the meet to visit various parts of Gujarat including the Somanth Temple, Kutch and the Gir lions.
